First Law in U.S. Aimed at Warning Cell Phone Users of Dangers
by Natural Health Strategies editor
Kudos to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors for passing the first law in the U.S. intended to help citizens (otherwise known as consumers, but actually human beings) to more easily choose a cell phone with a lower level of electromagnetic radiation (EMR).
It's a start, and our hats are off to these courageous human beings who voted, 10-1, to mandate that stores selling cell phones post plainly visible information about the levels of radiation emitted by each cell phone they sell.
It amounts to a warning about cell phone radiation to those who are listening.
Although at this stage the law is not final, the Board voted 10 to 1 in favor in spite of intense lobbying against it from the cell phone industry.
From the audience, Ellie Marks, whose husband Alan has a brain tumor that his doctors believe was caused by his extensive use of cell phones, cheered the vote. KTVU.com quotes Mrs. Marks' comment: "What it really means is we are standing up to an industry that is not telling the truth."
Even though there is some difference of opinion about the dangers to human health posed by EMR, there is abundant evidence that it causes brain tumors and affects our bodies on a cellular level.
